Staying here at the lovely and historic Lighthouse Inn, you’ve got a Nantucket Sound seascape to feast your eyes upon right at our doorstep. It’s a joy enough gazing at the Atlantic from one of our oceanfront rooms, a table at our Waterfront Restaurant, or from the sands of our private beach. But if you feel like getting out on the water during your Lighthouse Inn stay, needless to say you won’t be lacking for convenient options.

Here are some possibilities for cruises along Cape Cod’s spectacular coastline!

Lobster Roll Cruises (Dennis, MA)

Cruise from Sesuit Harbor out onto Cape Cod Bay aboard the Lobster Roll. The ship’s upper- and lower-deck bars serve beer, wine, cocktails, frozen drinks, and other beverages while you soak up the postcard-worthy scenery. Lobster Roll Cruises leads 1½-hour lunch cruises, 1¾-hour dinner cruises, and 1½-to-2-hour sunset dinner cruises that give you the option of enjoying a full feast on board, though you can also opt just for the boat ride itself. You can also charter the cruise ship for private events, from weddings to birthday parties.

Bay Spirit Tours (Hyannis, MA)

Bay Spirit Tours offers a variety of on-the-water excursions through Hyannis Harbor, Lewis Bay, and Nantucket Sound along the south coast of Nantucket. Consider the 75-minute Sunset Cruise, the evening Music Cruise enhanced by a live soundtrack from a local Cape Cod musician, or the Lighthouse Harbor Tour, taking in such hardworking and long-standing local beacons as the Hyannis Harbor Light and the Point Gammon Light out on Great Island. Another option is a sail aboard the Bay Breeze catamaran.

You can also charter the Bay Spirit (outfitted with a full bar) or the Bay Breeze for a private outing.

Albatross Fishing (East Dennis, MA)

For better than a half-century, the Albatross has offered fishing charters after flounder, black sea bass, and other prized gamefish on Cape Cod Bay. But the company also runs a fantastic Marine Life Cruise, a roughly two-hour expedition that draws up fish, crabs, and other local sealife via plankton net, scallop drag, and pots to be interpreted by onboard naturalists from Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s an awesome opportunity to learn about our local marine ecology—and get a rare, up-close glimpse at some underwater denizens!

Hy-Line Cruises (Hyannis, MA)

Along with ferry service, Hy-Line leads a whole array of different sightseeing cruises on Nantucket. They include hourlong tours of Hyannis Harbor that include looks at landmarks such as Great Island and the Kennedy Compound in Hyannisport; the kid-friendly and Ben & Jerry’s-enhanced Ice Cream Float; and a two-hour-long Live Music Cruise.

Other options include the Aquatic Explorations cruise with Mass Audubon staff, which features hands-on explorations of marine life pulled up with the seaweed, as well as trips along the Cape Cod Canal and the “Around the Sound” cruises between Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
