In 1938 the Stone Family of Auburn, Massachusetts purchased the Bass River Lighthouse property, which they had planned to develop. Because they passed papers too late in the season to begin construction, they decided to rent out rooms to help pay the mortgage. So many of those first guests wanted to return the next summer that the Stones changed their plans to develop the property and thus began the Lighthouse Inn.

The Inn has grown significantly from it's humble beginnings - from a tea room with a cook and a waitress to a full service, 200 seat dining room with more than 50 servers and kitchen staff; from simple accommodations for 25 guests to cottages, suites and accommodations for more than 150.  In addition to the private beach, guest amenities now include a heated pool, tennis, shuffleboard, volleyball and miniature golf.

Native scrod, north Atlantic salmon and fresh halibut broiled in butter, white wine and layered
with a puff pastry. Toped with crab meat and complimented with a basil hollandaise.

Salmon Pesto                                       
North Atlantic salmon filet broiled in lemon and butter, then smothered with basil pesto and sun-dried tomatoes.  Broiled plain also available.

North Country Salmon Cakes
Fresh salmon blended with sweet red pepper, jalapeno pepper, cilantro, garlic and Japanese bread
crumbs, then sauteed in whole butter until golden. Served with a chili flavored mayonnaise and lemon.
