Lighthouse Inn, owned and operated by the Stone Family since 1938, is a 68 room, full service oceanfront resort located in West Dennis on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. We employ seasonal workers from mid-May to mid-October. Lighthouse Inn offers staff housing to full season employees (those who are working until mid-October), good working conditions and a chance to work with people from many different places with diverse interests. The beach location gives you the opportunity to enjoy great social times outside of work and is an environment for long lasting friendships. Lighthouse Inn is a seasonal resort, with two different focuses of business. May, June, September, and October, the Lighthouse plays host to many corporate meetings, banquets, weddings, and other group functions. In July and August, the Inn caters to social guests who are vacationing. Lighthouse Inn is a Modified American Plan resort, which means that dinner and breakfast are included in the room rate for each guest. A service charge is added to guests' bills, therefore there is no cash tipping.

Lighthouse Inn specializes in personal service to our guests. For example, all service personnel wear name tags that list either the staff member's hometown or college currently being attended. This encourages conversation between guests and staff, as it is our goal that guests get to know the staff and the staff our guests. Many of the guests return each year so we desire familiarity.

All applicants that are offered positions must sign an employment agreement, stating the date work will begin and the date work will end. All staff who fulfill these dates are given a pre-determined bonus based on the number of weeks and/or hours worked during that season.

Applications
We begin accepting applications in January. Please download an application from below, fill it out completely, including telephone numbers for past employers and references, sign it, and return it to Lighthouse Inn. Please note that a interview is required. A personal interview increases your chances for employment, however if it is not possible, a phone interview will be considered if you have good experience and work references. For phone interviews send along two letters of recommendation. Please call to arrange for an interview appointment after you have forwarded your application.

The season will begin in May and continue through mid-October (end of season). Positions are available for (1) the entire season, (2) from Memorial Day through Labor Day and/or through the end of the season, (3) from late June through Labor Day and/or through the end of the season.

Front Desk, entire season only
Night Auditor, entire season only
Bellman/bartender (it's a combined position), entire season only
Pool Snack Bar, short season only
Children's Program, short season only

Employment Qualifications:
1. Have a consistently positive service attitude.
2. Be willing to maintain a neat appearance and be well groomed while on duty or in contact with the Inn guests.
3. Accept employment to work the number of hours and days deemed necessary by the Inn.

Appearance Requirements:
A clean and wholesome appearance for men and women is a must for employment. Visible tattoos and extremes in hairstyles, clothing, jewelry or makeup are not permitted. Our guests expect each of us to present a neat and clean appearance at all times. Men should be cleanly shaven prior to coming on duty. Women should have hair styled neatly with no unnatural dying. Good personal hygiene is expected of all employees at all times.

Housing
For those applicants who are able to work until mid-October, low-cost housing may be available through Lighthouse Inn. It is not available to college students. Housing is limited (only about 20 spaces) and available to full season (May/June thru October) workers only. Seasonal housing is readily available throughout the Mid-Cape area. Contact local real estate agents for assistance. There is a website www.capecodonline.com which is the Cape Cod Times online and has the real estate classifieds which may be able to assist you in finding seasonal housing. If you do not have housing in place for the summer season, we will be unable to consider your application until we know you have secured housing.

Applicants who do live in employee housing must be aware that you will be living in one of our 5-6 bedroom houses with 10-12 other people, with average ages between 19-28 (Real World with no cameras!). All rooms are double occupancy.

Hours and Wages
Lighthouse Inn complies with the wage and hour regulations of the state of Massachusetts and the Federal government. The Inn is a seasonal property and work hours will fluctuate each week according to occupancy levels. Employees are expected to work such hours and days as necessary to do their jobs. Work shifts, hours and wages will vary from job to job and all employees are paid on Fridays. Wages are based on an hourly rates, no less than Federal minimum wages, depending on position. Overtime is paid at time and one-half after forty hours a week.

Travel Information
Travel to the Inn is at your own expense. Cape Cod is located 85 miles south of Boston or 85 miles north or Providence, RI. Southwest airlines services TF Green Airport in Providence although it does not service Boston. Most other major airlines serve Boston's Logan Airport. Ground transportation from the Boston airport is available directly to Cape Cod by Plymouth/Brockton Bus Lines and from Providence by the Bonanza Bus Lines, which pick up by the baggage claim area.
